(E-Fest 2012)
September 6th-9th, 2012
Nationwide
E-Fest was born from E-Fest which held for two times that was in 2009 and 2010.
And It was aimed for students in Lampung scoped only. Then English Society
(ESo) of Lampung University, who has big intention and care for education and
Indonesian students language’s ability, upgraded E-Fest to be Nationwide E-Fest
2011. It was joined by varsity and high school students throughout Indonesia.
The first time we held Nationwide E-Fest in 2011 that we’re trying hard to make
our dream happened is one step forward for us to improve Nationwide E-Fest much
better and bring more challenging and marvellous competition than the previous
one. And in 2012, We alter the brand of the competition become “E-Fest 2012”.
Last Year, the
general winner for varsity category came to Bina Nusantara University which got
Lampung Governor’s thropy and the general winner for high school category was
grabbed by SMAN 2 Bandar Lampung which got Rector’s Throphy.
So, Who will be the next general winners this
year?

“E-Fest 2012”
“ The Voice of
Indonesia “
that
will be held on September , 6th-9th, 2012. This is a
national competition with five branches of competition namely: BP Debate,
Speech, Story Telling, News Casting , and Scrabble.
This is a chance for you to join,
experience , and grab the champion in this competition. So, What are you

2012, you are not allowed to cancel registration*. If
you do and you have paid, we only return the half of the payment of each
delegation that cancelled.

BP DEBATE
E-Fest 2012
Debate Competition is national debate competition which be purposed for all
debaters in Indonesia to compete and become champion by showing their skills of
public speaking and their critical thinking to respond current issues
happening.
E-Fest 2012
Debate Competition is purposed for varsity (general) and senior high school in
Indonesia. There will be 40 teams of varsity (general) and 28 teams of senior
high school. We combine teams of varsity and senior high school during
preliminary rounds. Starting from quarter-final round to grand-final round, we
split up the teams into senior high school category and varsity category
(general came into varsity category). So, we will have the winner from each
category, senior high school and varsities.
Competition Format
The format of
this debate will be British Parliamentary (BP) System. In this format, there
will be two benches that consist of four teams compete each other in a given
round, namely Opening Government (OG), Closing Government (CG), Opening
Opposition (OO) and Closing Opposition (CO). Even if opening team and closing
team are in the same bench, they play as opponent anyway. So, both of them
shall have different arguments. In each round, teams will be ranked by
adjudicators in the following rule; The 1st rank will get 3 Victory
Points (VPs), 2nd rank will get 2 VPs, 3rd rank will get
1 VP, and 4th rank will get 0.
Rounds
There will be
two main rounds in this competition, Preliminary Rounds and Elimination Rounds.
The Preliminary Rounds
In preliminary
rounds, there will be five rounds involving both of Senior High School and
Varsity. After preliminary rounds, teams will be ranked from highest to lowest.
The best 16 of varsity (general) and the best 8 of senior high school from preliminary rounds
will progress to elimination rounds.
The Elimination Rounds
Start from
elimination round, the best 16 of varsity and the best 8 of senior high will be
separated as their own category. Elimination rounds consist of quarter-final
round, semi-final round, and grand final round. Each of quarter-finals and
semi-finals will have two winning teams from each debate that will progress to
the next elimination round. In the grand-final round, the adjudication panel
shall select the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
position.

SPEECH
Speech
is how you deliver the information, but it’s not only delivering but also make
them believe and think critically with your opinion and agree with it. Beside
that speech must attract the audience to listen and understand your explanation
that you deliver systematically,structurally and logicaly. If you believe and you brave to try, you will be successful. So,
this competition is one of the step for you to make it.
Competition Format
The
participants must be high school students or university students and divided into
different level. There will be 35 participants of varsity (general) and 35
participants of senior high school. This competition consists of 5 rounds: Preliminary Round 1, Preliminary Round
2, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Grand Final.
Preliminary Round 1 (Prepared Speech)
The
participants will make their original speech in connection with theme :
“The
Voice of Indonesia”. The participants should prepare their own
three-to-five minute speeches. For the
1st preliminary round, participants should prepare 3 hardcopies of their speech
and submit it before coaching Clinic.
Preliminary Round 2 (Imaginary
Picture)
The
participants will get a picture from the media and they can open their
imagination to draw the theme from the picture and develop it. The picture is
not different for each participant and relates to the latest issue about
economy, environment and government. There will be no question and answer
session after the participant ends the speech. Participants may deliver their
speeches in 3 to 5 minutes.
Quarter Final (Impromptu Speech)
The participants have
to deliver speech with a certain theme. The participants will receive the same
theme and the theme will give spontaneously and they prepare it in the
quarantine room. There will be question and answer session after the
participant ends the speech and only one question for each participant.
Participants may deliver their speeches in 3 to 5 minutes.
Semi
Final (Original Idea)
There will be 5 different
questions from the commitee. Each participant that enter to the semi final
round must take one question randomly and after that they must answer it in
front of the stage based on the question that the participanst already take.
You can answer the question by adding
your opinion based on what question that you’ve already get. The issue,
problem, or question is different for each participant and relates to the
latest issue about education, politic, culture, technology and economy. There
will be no question and answer session after the participants ends the speech.
Participants may deliver their speeches in 3 to 5 minutes.
Grand Final (Prepared Speech)
The
participants that enter in final round will get the same theme. They already
get the theme one day before the final round started. So they can prepared the
speech one day before the speech started. There will be question and answer
session after the participant ends the speech and only one question for each
participant. Participants may deliver their speeches for 5 to 6 minutes. For
the final round, participants should prepare 3 hardcopies of their speech and
submit it when daily registration in the morning.

STORY
TELLING
Story telling is how you deliver a message
from a story with language, gestures, and expressions to increase your public
speaking, creativity, confidence, and open imagination. It's not only a formal
action, but it also become an informal action, how you can entertain people and
they can get a feel from your story. This competition will give you many experiences
and knowledge about story telling. So
use your time to join this competition which will increase your quality and
capability.
Competition
Format
The
participants must be high school students or university students and divided
into different level. There will be 35 participants of varsity (general) and 35
participants of senior high school. This competition consists of 5 rounds: Preliminary Round 1, Preliminary Round
2, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Grand Final.
Preliminary Round 1 (Prepared Story)
In this round, all participants should prepare their story at home.
Theme of story is :
“The Voice
of Indonesia”. The participants are allowed to bring
their own properties to make the story become more interesting. Each
participant must submit three copies of the script to the committee before the
competition starts. Each participant gets maximum 7 minutes to perform their
story.
Preliminary Round 2 (Magic Properties)
In this round, we will prepare some properties. There will be about
15 properties and the participants will get 3 properties randomly by taking
lottery from the committee. The participants are required to use all the three
properties in their story and cannot use the other than what we have prepared.
The genre of the story will no be determined and it is all up to their
creativity.
All the participants will initially be in the quarantine room. In
this room, participants will not know the properties that they will receive.
The participants will see the properties that must be used and start to think
for about 3 minutes for the second preliminary round. After that, the
participant starts to perform in front of the judges for 5 minutes.
Quarter Final (What’s next?)
In this round,the committee will give one paragraph of the story and
the participants must continue the story by their imagination and creativity.
All quarter finalists in this round will get different story. Each participant
has maximum time for 10 minutes to perform their story.
Semi Final (Slide Show)
This round is slide show round, the committee will give a phrase and
the participants should make a story about it. Then 20 seconds later, the
committee will give another phrase that should be put into the story. In this round,
we can see how good the imagination of the participants. Each participant will
be given 20 slides, and each slide is random, not from the same theme. At the end, participants should end their
story.
Grand Final (Role Play Story)
The final round will be in the form of role play story where there
is an involvement from some other neutral people in running the story. The
committee in this story will set up the scenarios and pretend to be the actors
in the story. There will be some properties prepared by the committee to assist
finalists to run the story. What the finalists need to do is to create a story
based on the scenarios performed by the committee and pretend to be one of the
actors in the story. The finalists also need to use the properties to help them
create a story idea. This is the most challenging round that it demands the
creativity to create a story idea with no preparation.

NEWSCASTING
Everyone
has an extraordinary capability inside of themself. But some of them don’t know
about it. Competing in a competition will makes you know more who you are. News Casting is how you read, present a news,
interview a person or even make a news and deliver it to all around the
world. News Casting competition make you
challenged to show your ability in broadcasting world, develop your skill in
public speaking and communication, and help you to start your career to be the
real News Caster.

Competition Format
The
participants must be high school students or university students and divided
into different level. There will be 35 participants of varsity (general) and 35

In
this round, each participant must present 2 news in 5 minutes which will be
provided by the commitee.

this round, each participant must present a short news and also weather
forecast based on the weather picture in 5 minutes that will be provided by the
committee.
Quarter final (Live Report)
Each
participant will have a live report in 7 minutes at particular location set by
the committe. And the themes will be announced in the technical meeting.
Semi final (Talk Show)
The
participants will have talk show with a guest star prepared by the commitee in
8 minutes.
Grand Final (News
Reading+Interview)
Each
participant will have to present a news and interview a guest star prepared by the commitee based on a certain
topic in 8 minutes that will be
provided by the commitee.

SCRABBLE
Scrabble
is a popular word game playing worldwide. This game measures how much your
knowledge of vocabularies. It also challenges you to apply your own strategies
and to score as high as possible. Player who has higher score is considered as
the winner. This is an educative game which involves your vocabularies in
mastering your English skill.
Nowadays, we use CSW12 as the authority of this scrabble challenge.

Competition Format
In
this E-Fest 2012 we use single system with no elimination. All participants
play 17 rounds in three days. The best two players will play in final round.
The final round format is best-of-3 where the finalists play for 3 rounds. If one of the finalist win 2 rounds
in a row, the 3rd game will not be played.

: 5 points per word
Time
: 25 minutes each player

competition is adopting WESPA rules (http://www.wespa.org/rules/RulesV2nov11.pdf)
And
all related rules should be covered in it.
Pairing System
Pairing
system is basically a system to determine every match up in each round. There
are two kinds of pairing system that will be implemented in this competition:
1.
Australian Draw
Australian
Draw is a pairing system based on power match (1st rank meet 2nd rank, 3rd rank
meet 4th rank and so on) with no repetition in a period of time, usually one
day. Thus, if a participant meets the same opponent for the second time in the
same day, the pairing will be reshuffled automatically so they won’t play
against each other again in the same day.
2. King of the Hill
King
of the Hill is a pairing system based on power match (1st rank meet 2nd rank,
3rd rank meet 4th rank and so on) with repetition. More than one meeting is
allowable.
